Fashion 101: Working with ModelsWelcome to the first edition of Fashion 101, a series of articles revolving around the art, business, and nuances of fashion photography brought to you by Fashion-Show. While some topics may be relevant only to the fashion industry, many of these articles can apply to multiple genres and art mediums, such as today's topic. As is customary with most of my articles, there will be a giveaway and discussion at the end!
What is a Model?
Simply put, a model is a person employed for the purpose of posing for an artist. This can be for a painter, sculptor, animator, photographer, etc. For the sake of this article, we will be looking at models for photography. We will also be further defining a model as someone who has agreed to pose or act for your photography project, versus a brief subject such as a person on the street.
Why Work With a Model?
A model brings a lot to the table for a photographer, particularly when it comes to b

Fashion Show RulesMission Statement
Fashion-Show is a group created by fashion photographer Kendra-Paige that is dedicated to showcasing fashion, beauty, and editorial photography created on DeviantArt. Featured: The most inspiring and creative imagery belongs here.
Fashion: Photographs with an emphasis on wardrobe and styling.
Beauty: Images with a focus on makeup, cosmetics, and portraits.
Editorial: Photography that tells a story or follows a theme.
Up & Coming: For beginners and those dabbling in fashion photography.
Articles: For tutorials and articles around fashi
Protect Your WorkFor many artists, art theft is a frustrating reality. No matter how we watermark, logo, or constrain the resolution of our work, there are instances where artwork will be reposted, ripped, or used for commercial gain without credit or compensation. For some, this can be almost flattering, to know that there are those that like your work enough to steal it. But, the fact still remains, that your work has been used without permission, and for no gain of your own.
I have been a photographer for four years now, and throughout that time I am always learning. Part of that education is around copyright, and how to protect my work. The collage above is a brief representation of some of the ways my photography has been stolen. Some were edited without permission, event advertisements, included in a calendar, manipulated to advertise jewelry, sold on canvas, for promoting a cosmetic brand, or even for music videos.

Busy Little BeeI have been so busy lately, that I've barely spent any time on DA or my usual online haunts. I'm really sorry for the lack of activity, and I'll do my best to swing around more often.
In terms of updates, I'm not sure where to start. I've picked up one of my first commercial gigs, been published in a book and several digital and print publications, as well as made a slew of new connections that I hope will further push my photography career forward.
I have also been busy with a slew of shoots, and I can't forget about the ones I've done with the always-lovely MeganCoffey! If you haven't watched her page yet, go do so!
I've recently learned the importance of 'personal work.' One of my inspirations, Lara Jade (larafairie), speaks of the importance of doing personal work, and it didn't really hit home until recently. I found myself drowning in client work: commercial work, portraits, events, etc. It was wonderful to have the paid work, but I found myself getting stressed or losi
Daily DeviationI woke up in the middle of the night, and groggily looked through my Deviant Art notifications going: "I wonder if I'll ever get a Daily Deviation again." Then I saw a comment that said 'DD,' and there it was! What an amazing way to start my day!
Thank you so much to SavageFrog for suggesting my photograph, and to pullingcandy for featuring it!

Florida SuperconBy some strange circumstance, I am free from work on Saturday, so I'll be attending Supercon and trying my hand at cosplay photography! It's been over five years since I did cosplay photography, back in high school when all I had was a Canon xTi Rebel and a kit lens. I am excited to see what five years of experience will mean. But it'll also be nice to get a little nostalgic and just experiment for once.

Anime is based of the word Animation. These are Japanese animated productions usually featuring hand-drawn or computer animations. When you talk about an Animation in Manga style. That's Anime.
But what is Manga? With Manga you mainly mean a comic book created in Japan. But this word is used for regula

a dangerous hallucinationThe light coming through the window was bright,
much too bright.
Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
that I nev
