Description

This was my first time going to a zoo to take photos, and I learned a whole lot. The first thing I learned is that I need a different lens, the second was that shooting animals through fences and glass is difficult. Out of over 200 shots of this Jaguar, this was just about the only one that doesn't show the fence.

I hope to do better next time.

This is seriously one of the most beautiful Jaguar photos I've seen on dA! I love how you had him framed in the photo. I can completely relate to trying to shoot around fences/habitats and screaming/pointing kids while photographing at a zoo! I know that those points do not give you much option in framing shots at zoos but this particular shot was a huge success! The amount of detail in this photo is just superb and the colors are incredibly vibrant! The spots are so defined that it nearly looks like a painting in the small "full view" until you download and see it full sized! I love how the sunlight has painted his face and glistens off the whiskers and how it makes the amber of his eyes stand out even more.

My only tiny little critique is that your ISO was a bit higher than I think I would have used causing a very slight amount of noise. But, I'm no professional photographer. I still absolutely love this!

Have you ever considered taking/offering stock photography? I could see many artists loving your work.
