The composition is great. I like that you used a horizontal layout and that you followed the rule of thirds. It adds more interest to the photo. The subject is truly strong and our eyes just jump to her as we first see the photograph. The background doesn’t distract from the subject but looking at it, we come to notice the man’s leg, which leaves us to come up with our own conclusions as how he got there. The pattern in the sofa balances out the curtain quite nicely and the models hair adds more interest then if it was straight. Maybe if you sharpened the model and sofa abit, the photo would look better.
This photograph has great impact at first glance and when you spend time looking at it, you can form a story behind this photograph. My interpretation is that the woman killed her lover for his money.
Thank you so much! This shoot is very dear to me - and I sincerely hope I get the opportunity to do another concept shoot like it soon. Telling a story was a lot of fun with this.
I kept staring at this from in your journal, and didn't know why. Now I understand why, it's so creepy, and seductive! Very gothic to me. All the black and the tone of the lighting. Perfection. I love how the guy is on the floor in the background, oddly enough this made me giggle. Great Job, once again!
Haha, yeah, it's actually a pair of legs, but the angle and lighting was a bit off. I had the male model lay down and pretend to be dead, but decided just showing his shoes and legs were more effective.
The shoot was about a 'Black Widow,' who was deadset on poisoning her husband in order to secure inheritance money for herself and her son.
Thank you so much. <3 I was really having a lot of trouble with this shot, because the color was this horrid warm orange, and it took ages to get it manageable. I was worried it was too monochrome purple, haha. Your comment really means a lot, and I hope to do more concept shoots like this that teeter on the darker side.
